Professor Anselm Adodo
Father Anselm Adodo is a Benedictine monk, founder of Pax Herbal Clinic and Research Laboratories (Paxherbals), and a renowned advocate for African herbal medicine and holistic wellness. He has dedicated over two decades to integrating indigenous knowledge systems with modern health practices, revolutionizing Traditional African Medicine in Nigeria. Awarded the prestigious Da Vinci Community Services Award in 2017 for his impactful work, Father Adodo has also established a Master's Program on Transformation Management in Africa, in collaboration with the University of Ibadan. Father Anselm Adodo, a Benedictine monk and prominent advocate for African herbal medicine, has spent over two decades championing the integration of indigenous knowledge systems with modern health practices. As the founder and director of Pax Herbal Clinic and Research Laboratories (Paxherbals), Nigeria’s premier herbal institute, Father Adodo has revolutionized the field of Traditional African Medicine (TAM), blending centuries-old wisdom with cutting-edge research to promote holistic wellness.
In 2017, Father Adodo was awarded the prestigious Da Vinci Community Services Award for his remarkable innovation stemming from his participation in the Trans4m Da Vinci PhD Program for Integral Development. His research-to-innovation work has significantly impacted thousands in his rural Ewu community in Edo State, Nigeria, and is now the foundation of a transformative Master’s Program on Transformation Management, in collaboration with the University of Ibadan. This program develops agents of transformation across Africa, ensuring that education and societal advancement are deeply rooted in community involvement.
Father Adodo’s journey began with his ordination as a Roman Catholic priest in 1997, followed by philosophical and theological studies, including a BA in Religious Studies and two Master’s degrees, one in Systematic Theology from Duquesne University, USA, and the other in Medical Sociology from the University of Benin, Nigeria. He later earned his doctorates in Management of Technology and Innovation from the Da Vinci Institute, South Africa, and in Medical Sociology from the University of Benin.
As an adjunct professor at the University of Ibadan, he teaches African Transformation Studies and Traditional African Medicine, furthering his commitment to developing the next generation of African leaders through education and research. His prolific writing includes notable works like Nature Power: Herbal Medicine in Tropical Africa, which has become a best-seller and been reprinted multiple times since its first publication in 2000.
