Brief Description of Topic: The primary objective of this research is to establish the role of Skills Development within the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Codes as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation in South Africa. Although the element of Skills Development exists in the BBBEE Codes for more than 20 years, it is questionable whether it has changed the profile of black people in respect to skills advancement and employability; and business in terms of economic advancement. To illuminate this the analysis of policy implementation and literature review is crucial to achieving this study’s objectives.
