Estie Serfontein started her career in the Aviation Industry by fluke. She completed a Cabin Crew licence in 2006 with the objective to have flexible working time and an income whilst doing her Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria. Employed by an unscheduled operator at Lanseria International Airport, Estie developed an unexpected interest in organisational control areas instead of pursuing a career as Artist or Flight Attendant.
With a keen interest in the new-found world of aviation administration, control and management, Estie actively sought knowledge and completed a number of industry-specific courses to eventually establish herself as a Quality Assurance Manager. Concerned with monitoring and measurement of the organisation’s performance, the role of the Quality Assurance Manager also includes consultation with process owners to resolve procedural challenges and maintain effective control.
Through reporting and analysing results of performance monitoring activities, Estie is able to identify trends, compile risk profiles according to the control areas, and contribute to risk mitigation to maintain reliability of the organisations processes. With a keen interest in management of change, she has the ability to turn ideas into logical strategies and implementing effective inter-disciplinary control systems that supports business management principles such as planning, execution, review, communication and control.
