The Ackoff Centre for Systems and Design Thinking at Da Vinci was launched in May 2010, by International Design Thinking expert, Prof John Pourdehnad from the Ackoff Collaboratory for the Advancement of Systems Approaches at the University of Pennsylvania. In celebration of the pioneering work in Systems and Design Thinking developed by the late Prof Russell Ackoff, Da Vinci embarked on a journey to develop an intimate working relationship with Prof Ackoff which resulted in the Design Thinking methodology offered by The Ackoff Centre for Systems and Design Thinking at Da Vinci.
The Ackoff Centre for Systems and Design Thinking at Da Vinci, is based on a partnership model in which a number of South African-based specialist organisations joined forces with Da Vinci and Prof Pourdehnad with a view to establishing a centre of expertise on Design Thinking.
Our Design Thinking approach is firmly rooted in the Ackoff philosophy which recognises that it is no longer acceptable for organisations to use a top-down approach, but instead the whole organisation needs to be included in the design process. The psychological impact is then one in which the whole organisation takes full ownership of the new direction. The Ackoff Centre for Systems and Design Thinking at Da Vinci can assist your organisation in finding solutions to complex challenges, holistically and systemically.
