Wayne Aronson

Wayne Aronson is the CEO and founder of Technetium (Pty) Ltd, which offers innovative asset management technology and tracking solutions across multiple industries including Healthcare, Waste Management, Mining, Retail, Service Companies, Large Corporations, and Government. Technetium is a specialist tracking technology company and solutions provider with extensive international experience in the physical asset tracking and management workspace.

In the 10 years that his company has been in operation, it has grown to be a leading Asset Management and Tracking Company in South Africa, with some of the largest Banks and Insurance companies and the National Lottery using its technology to manage their assets. In the area of medical waste management alone, Technetium is responsible for the tracking and management of the majority of the county’s waste containers from more than 6,000 facilities for both Provincial and Private Healthcare organizations. Under Wayne’s leadership, Technetium has consistently been recognized for its innovation in technology and has on numerous occasions been the winner of the TT100 award for Technology Excellence including The DST’s Director General’s Top Technology 100 Company Award for Overall Excellence.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, Wayne has now expanded the business into an international organization with operations in USA, UK and Australia, Prior to founding Technetium, Mr. Aronson served as Senior Vice-President (Global Technology and Development) at USA based TrenStar (2001-2006).

Mr. Aronson was one of the founding executives and contributed significantly to the company’s growth from $2MM in revenue to $65MM in 4 years. He was instrumental in the design, development and operations of some of the largest RFID based supply chain solutions in the world. While he was head of global technology and IT strategy, the company enjoyed a number of prestigious recognitions including:

At this same time, he served as the group Technical Director and CIO for the Trencor Solutions group of companies.

From 1998 to 2000, Wayne served as Managing Director at Accord Business Solutions (part of a public group of companies listed on the JSE), a company responsible for developing bespoke enterprise solutions for the healthcare, banking, logistics and entertainment industries. From 1995 to 1997, he served as CEO and founder of DataVox, a software development company focused on high technology mission critical solutions in the area of computer telephony, electronic banking and electronic warfare projects for the South African Military.

He received a BSc in Electrical Engineering (was awarded the Adolph Goldsmith Memorial Fund Prize), and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Wayne has a passion for family, logic problems and puzzles, and sport; and holds a black belt in karate. He is an active member and mentor of small businesses through the non-profit ORT JET SA organization (www.ortsa.org.za/ort-jet/).
